The Ffestiniog Railway was constructed with a continuous downhill gradient,
loaded slate wagon trains would descend by gravity with brakesmen riding
on the wagons to control the speed of the train by applying the brakes on
individual wagons as nessesary.

On special occasions the railway recreates this and runs a gravity slate train,
this is it passing through Minffordd station.
